Class Dojo

In third grade, we use a program called Class Dojo. Class Dojo is used to:
  • Student Profile
Provide positive feedback and recognition to students
  • Provide feedback and a record of our school wide behavior system
  • Encourage and learn about Growth Mindset
  • Communicate between teacher and parents in a variety of ways
    • Class Story: Reminders and posts about classroom activities. Only parents from our class can see these posts.
    • Class Story
Student Story: An electronic portfolio. Students will be able to post photos and comments about work done in class.  Only the teacher and parent of a particular student can see these posts.
    • Messenger: Messaging between teacher and parent (similar to texting)

Students earn “Dojo Points” for a wide variety of behaviors to encourage and celebrate positive choices at school. Points accumulate all year. As students reach certain milestone total points, called Levels, they earn Level Rewards.

Students also have a special necklace, called a Dojo Dangle, which is used to collect tags that mark a wide variety of academic, social, and activity achievements throughout the year. (Examples include mastering math facts, earning a new Dojo Level, practicing kindness, or participating in Jog-a-thon…)  Dojo Dangles remain at school until the end of the year.

There is not a visual display of our color/card chart system in class. Reminders are entered into Class Dojo and recorded in the planner at the end of the day. (1 reminder = yellow, etc.) When you look at the Class Dojo app you’ll be able to see more details about why and when a reminder was given (Reminder for talking out of turn at 9:00 is during math, etc.)

A weekly summary of your student’s Class Dojo  will be emailed out on Friday if you haven’t logged in to the app in 5 days. If you haven’t signed up, are experiencing any issues, or have any questions, please let me know!
